Something that a lot of mums doing the first year book told me was that they get to filling out the Birth and Firsts pages and had forgotten all the details and dates, so I thought a cute idea for a promo was to provide the pages that will be required in the final book. The idea is the clipboard will hang somewhere like inside the wardrobe door so it’s easily and readily available to jot down the milestones as they happen throughout the first year.

And even if they never decide to get the final book made, at least they have the details written down to keep forever 🥰

Over the weekend my 3 yr old daughter attended 3 birthday parties! Two of them were her first daycare invites so she was super excited and it was even her idea to gift them an All About Me Milestone book.

This was my first time gifting a milestone book for a birthday gift (from memory) and it was such a cool experience seeing a child open and love a gift from something I’ve worked hard to design and bring to life!

Humble brag but what was even better was that the book was passed around and checked out by some of the adults, just something new and different to a box of crayons or a Barbie (don’t get me wrong I can’t wait to play dolls when my daughter becomes interested in it!) but there deff wasn’t a double up gifting a milestone book!

For years, I carried a quiet guilt.
I was a single mum for the first 9 years of my son’s life — juggling study, work, and survival. I started my degree when he was one. I worked multiple jobs. We didn’t have holidays or the latest gadgets. We lived with flatmates. Our car broke down constantly. And sometimes, the guilt whispered that I should’ve waited... been more present… done more.

I worried that his childhood was full of “less than.”

☀️On this day, a year or so ago, my daughter and I were chatting about what cake she wanted for her next birthday and she wanted to tell something about her 2nd Birthday cake but couldn’t explain it in words so she jumped up on the couch with all her milestone books and started flipping through (at this moment I grabbed my phone to record) 📸

I always thought having a big age gap (12 years in this case) would be hard!
I first became a mumma when I was 19 yrs old and ended up solo parenting my son until I married at 29yrs old.
I’ve experienced being a mum both as a single parent and with a loving husband/father and both have such different and unique memories and stories to tell.
I was worried a big age gap would mean my son and daughter (now 16 and 3) wouldn’t have a bond but I couldn’t be more wrong! They love each other so much and my son has the upmost patience and concern for his little sister, even when she steals things from his room or bugs him when he’s trying to have sleep ins 🤣

Wednesdays are home days where we don’t have daycare, don’t book meetings (if we can help it) and try to stay at home and enjoy the simpler things where we don’t need to spend a fortune to create beautiful memories. As a busy family these Wednesdays are so precious to us knowing how lucky we are that our 3yr old gets BOTH mum and dad at home on a weekday to play and do whatever we feel like. It’s only going to be this way a short time and because it’s such a special season, it’s something we’ll document in her upcoming 4th year Milestone book!

note- I don’t usually have my phone out to record every moment on Wednesday haha - I try to be present as much as possible but this was a once off to have something to pop in our book + family movie files and bonus reel content!
